The Three Realities
Enterprise applications can't provide value unless they work within the realities of the business they are trying to support. The current generation of enterprise architecture, while reflecting the best thinking at the time they were designed, does not address key realities of business and does not address the support gap their absences generate. In this paper, we introduce the concept of The Three Realities of Enterprise Solutions, which are fundamental truths about the way that businesses use enterprise solutions.

THREE DIMENSIONAL CAD REVIEWS: ). This is Part Three of a six-part note. Part One detailed the event. Part Two discussed how Scala complements Epicor. Part Four will present merger synergies and challenges. Part Five will address more challenges and make user recommendations. It has meanwhile packaged together the functionality required in one standard software system, which means

PeopleSoft Gathers Manufacturing and SCM WherewithalPart Three: The Manufacturing Industry
Even before the mega merger, PeopleSoft had already set it sights on a bigger manufacturing presence. PeopleSoft’s acquisition of mid-to-large ERP system developer J.D. Edwards this summer, and most recently demand flow and lean manufacturing software solution from JCIT, might indicate some deep though process rather than a number of impulse initiatives from the past.

Part Four will present challenges and make user recommendations. Boosting Credibility in the Manufacturing Industry Letting bygones be bygones and buying JCIT s technology should further bolster PeopleSoft s credibility in manufacturing. On the other hand, for J.D. Edwards, manufacturing, asset-intensive operations, and SCM have always been core competencies and thus, its purchase

Integrating All Information AssetsPart Three: What Constitutes Integration?
So, whether the need for integration arises from the proliferation of business applications within your own enterprise, the results of mergers and acquisitions, or from the demands of e-business, integration emerges as a significant challenge in responding to the demands of business today. What then constitutes integration and how do you go about meeting these challenges? This is an excerpt from the book ERP Optimization (Subtitle: Using Your Existing System to Support Profitable E-Business Initiatives).

THREE DIMENSIONAL CAD REVIEWS: just as there are three predominant reasons why integration is an issue, there are three aspects of integration: The most basic requirement of integration is at the data level. The second aspect is perhaps the most complicated and problematic level since it is the one that is buried the most deeply into the application. This second aspect involves the actual application logic itself. The third level is one of consistency and universality of access and visualization. This is Part Three of four-part

Three Cs of Successful Positioning: The Competition

THREE DIMENSIONAL CAD REVIEWS: Three Cs of Successful Positioning: The Competition Three Cs of Successful Positioning: The Competition Lawson Abinanti - August 15, 2005 Read Comments Keep Positioning Simple: Hit It Where They Ain t. Long before marketers discovered positioning, early baseball great Wee Willie Keeler (lifetime batting average .345) summed up how to score on the competition: Hit it where they ain t. CAD Model Quality Testing
With 3-D computer-aided design (CAD) models taking on a broader and more significant role in the development of new products, CAD files must flow smoothly into downstream applications. Sometimes, however, errors do occur. An off-the-shelf software tool can detect problems in the design stage so they aren’t discovered at a crucial moment in the manufacturing process, when it may be costly—or even too late—to correct them.

Lawson Software-IPO and Several Acquisitions AfterPart Three: Market Impact
In several aspects, Lawson Software could be regarded as an enterprise applications market anomaly. For one, at its peak in fiscal 2002, the company boasted annual revenues of nearly $430 million, but it still has only a slender (less than 10 percent of revenues) presence outside of its US domestic market. Further, it remains a major force in enterprise applications software, yet it does not cater the functionality to manufacturing sectors, and the vastness of its sales are thus derived from just a few service-oriented vertical markets-primarily health care and retail.

New markets that Lawson intends to seriously tackle as well are transportation and distribution, energy and utilities, gaming and entertainment, and publishing. Being also
