Is ERP Through SaaS Ready for Prime Time? » The TEC Blog
In a relatively short time the SaaS model has come along way… Steve on 1 May, 2008 at 9:46 am # Your write up sounds as though you have swallowed some very gushing marketing statements and assumed that NetSuite’s claims are true. What makes you think that this ERP application is more “a true integrated ERP offering” than any on-premise application? The licensing method, ownership and delivery platform make no difference to the functionality or integration options of an ERP system, with one main

Time Keepers Or Clock Makers
Right now, you probably have someone hiring and firing warehouse personnel who has never attended a course on interviewing techniques or labor laws. You have someone controlling millions of dollars of inventory that could not tell you the last time they attended a course or read a book about inventory control. And we wonder why our inventory is so inaccurate.

TIME READERS: Time Keepers Or Clock Makers Time Keepers Or Clock Makers Rene Jones - July 9, 2003 Read Comments The Situation Can you figure out a way to perform your job in a manner that you save time doing it? Of course not! Time cannot be saved, it moves at the same speed no matter what you do! Now think of all the things that are done within your warehouse, supposedly to save time. How many of those things actually worked over the long haul? Can you count them on one hand? If so, then what do you do? It all starts

SAP Gives in to CRM (Part Time) Matrimony
On May 2, SAP AG, the leading provider of enterprise software applications, announced a strategic alliance with Nortel Networks to develop and integrate industry-specific CRM solutions.

TIME READERS: not suffice; coordination and time constraints play a major role too. This move may, however, change the balance of power among major CRM players (or aspirants). Vendors like J.D. Edwards, Lawson, and Great Plains, who bundle other vendors products as a part of their overall solution, may get some vindication for their strategy. They have been lambasted so far from purist one-stop-shop suppliers like SAP and Oracle as well as from analysts. J.D. Edwards may still struggle to justify its need for

What s Wrong with Application Software? It s the Economics
Enterprise architecture is a technology problem, not the business problem. The business problem is time, money, and quality. Focusing on modifications as an example, the reason that modifications are bad is that they take too long, cost too much, and often have quality issues.

TIME READERS: considered. Reduce cost and time but not at the cost of poor quality, in fact the quality must be built in in the same way that manufacturers have designed for quality. Marginal cost advantages will not result in major changes in the impact of software on the business. Cost advantages must be significant. Time must be reduced such that the software can be more closely aligned with business needs on an on-going basis. To cut both time and cost and increase the impact, quality must increase. The software

25% Less Learning Time? Find the Right Approach to Training
A key challenge in software implementation is getting the end users up to speed with a new system. Training just doesn’t seem to work—or is not fast enough. But what if you could learn how to use a new software in 25% less time, using a method has been around for more than half a century? Find out why the Training Within Industry (TWI) approach works, and how you can use it today to swiftly train your people to use new software.

TIME READERS: that was proven effective time and again. The training time to get people productive on a new task went down at least 25% for every company that used it, and often much more. For example, the time to train a competent lens grinder went down from 5 years in 1940 to 5 days in some plants in 1944. Interesting. But how does that make any difference in 2012 in the world of software? There are two reasons to think it might be effective. First, this method is still used today by some of the very best companies,
