People or Resources: The Financial Sector in a Crossroads

People management tools have become necessary, particularly in an environment such as the financial sector, where resources have become global and people require more complex management solutions.

vantive manuel  or Resources: The Financial Sector in a Crossroads Introduction Ten years ago, in the mid-nineties, the financial sector faced four main challenges: market globalization, financial freedom, non-intermediation, and the importance of new technologies in business practices. Today, the first three challenges have been met, while the fourth is still being grappled with. The fourth challenge, technology, is the main obstacle facing every financial entity—from banks, savings banks, and rural banks, to Read More

PeopleSoft Building Muscles To Overcome The Rough Patch Part 2: Market Impact

With a large investment in architecture made early, PeopleSoft has so far resisted the downturn in the market and has gained ground by making its core applications a compelling choice. However, the company has tempted the fate with touting that its product architecture would make it bulletproof to the weak economy, making the market reward it at that stage for being the poster child of a success in the tough environment. One should not be surprised with the market’s harsh knee-jerk reprisal once the pure-Internet magic was dented with the latest tamed results.

PeopleSoft Completes Acquisition of Vantive; Vantive CRM Applications Integrate with PeopleSoft and Other ERP Systems

On January 3, 2000 PeopleSoft Inc. announced it had completed its acquisition of The Vantive Corporation, the world's second-largest independent supplier of customer relationship management (CRM) solutions. The transaction was completed December 31, 1999 with the issuance of approximately 28 million shares of common stock and options to purchase common stock, and is anticipated to be accounted for as a pooling-of-interests. The acquisition of Vantive makes PeopleSoft the only enterprise software company offering a full suite of CRM products that integrate tightly with PeopleSoft and other major back-office applications.

PeopleSoft's Buying Momentum Goes On. Pageant Participants, Line Up Please! Part 2: User Recommendations

Having stashed almost $1.7 billion in cash, PeopleSoft’s thirst does not seem to be quenched by the recent buy-back of Momentum Business Applications, an R&D firm it created and spun off in 1998. While the speculations about the next acquisition candidate abound, many supply chain companies have been dolling themselves up hoping to catch one of the most eligible bachelor’s eye.

vantive manuel  completed the integration of Vantive , and having had a somewhat daunting experience with Red Pepper should keep PeopleSoft away from a high-profile purchase. It is much more likely that the company will pursue its recent strategy of acquiring possibly a few more vendors with a much lower market capitalization value (i.e., less than $100 million), which would leave it with a hefty amount of cash remaining (see PeopleSoft Annuncio-es Continuation Of Its Shopping Spree ). Given that the market has an Read More

And the Real ERP Is…

On October 9, I ran a contest asking readers to define ERP in their own words. Why? Because there are so many different definitions floating around on the Web that I wondered if users really know what they're getting into when selecting an ERP system. This problem was really brought home to me a few months ago, when I was asked to write a brief history of ERP (for an organization who will

PeopleSoft Plays Hardball

No more a nice guy with PeopleSoft! Its strong Q4 2000 results and alleged string of wins over its direct competitors have stirred up some emotions and knee-jerk dismissive reactions. Whatever the case may be, look for a vigorous PeopleSoft participation in many future software selection deals.

vantive manuel  phase of integrating acquired Vantive CRM product within its flagship PeopleSoft 8 product suite and with the winding down of its ambitious and over two years long R&D endeavors. Look for possibly even a stronger bottom-line in the future if the company continues to succeed in attracting new deals. However, to put things in the right perspective, one should bear in mind that PeopleSoft's license revenue in 2000 was still 25% less than the corresponding revenue in 1998 (See Figure 2), back when the Read More

Enterprise Resource Planning Systems Audio Conference

This is a transcript of an audio conference on Enterprise Resource Planning Systems presented by TechnologyEvaluation.Com. The presentation used the TEC patented selection engine WebTESS to conduct a real time evaluation and selection. It then reviewed the critical differentiating ERP criteria, as well as detailed comparisons of the several major ERP vendors: SAP, Oracle, PeopleSoft, J.D. Edwards, Baan, Intentia, System Software Associates (SSA),Geac Computers, Industrial & Financial Systems (IFS), QAD, MAPICS, Symix Systems, Great Plains, and Lawson Software.

PeopleSoft Building Muscles To Overcome The Rough Patch Part 3: Target Markets, Alliances, & Competition

In PeopleSoft’s case, the fact remains that it is still the best-attuned offering (in terms of pricing, vertical extensions, customizability, professional service approach, etc.) to the needs of large, service-oriented enterprises, or for ‘greenfield’ sites. However, to put things in the right perspective, one should bear in mind that PeopleSoft’s license revenue in 2001 was still less than the corresponding revenue in 1998, back when the company was only a HRMS/ERP player.

vantive manuel  through acquisition of the Vantive CRM product, is still a relatively immature product, with an awful amount of work in progress, as can be inferred by the above announcements as well. If one is to judge by the general industry benchmarks, it will take at least until late 2002, for only some of these product's initiatives to be fully integrated, while, it is very likely that a plethora of disparate products will for some time to come be connected via XML messaging only, since a huge pile of PeopleSoft's Read More

PeopleSoft - Catching Its Second Wind From The Internet Part 3: Predictions and Recommendations

Now that PeopleSoft has a pure Internet platform, a new set of products and a new assertive attitude, it faces strong retaliatory actions from the competition. Can it achieve number two in the ERP space?

vantive manuel  pays for it. Non-PeopleSoft Vantive CRM product customers should promptly clarify their support status and PeopleSoft's CRM product development strategy. As with all new releases, users should employ a critical approach in their evaluation of PeopleSoft 8 and require all potential vendors to demonstrate specific business processes. Though demonstrations do not guarantee a trouble-free implementation, they can go a long way toward helping users understand how the software might behave in their Read More

PeopleSoft - Catching Its Second Wind From The Internet Part 1: About PeopleSoft

PeopleSoft, once a high flyer owing to its congenial culture and slick ERP product, has invested two years and over a half billion dollars to develop a number of new, Internet-based enterprise applications that have apparently propelled it back on the enterprise applications top chart. It has now emerged with a pure Internet platform, a new set of products and a new assertive attitude that will prompt strong retaliatory actions from the competition.

vantive manuel  2000, PeopleSoft acquired The Vantive Corporation , a leading CRM software provider, and Advance Planning Solutions, a business planning and modeling software company. PeopleSoft also launched its in-house application service provider (ASP) offering, eCenter , and an online trading exchange, PeopleSoft MarketPlace . The major development in 2000 was the delivery of PeopleSoft 8 , which represented a generational shift to the Internet in its software architecture. CRM is Busting Out Of Its Britches: Operational, Analytical, and Collaborative CRM Are Born

Back in the early 90’s, ‘CRM’ wasn’t even a trendy acronym. You had a few players thinking beyond 'stovepipe' enterprise applications, but not much beyond. Fast forward to 2001. CRM has gotten fat, and the fatter it gets, it becomes more difficult to understand, more expensive to buy, more difficult to implement, and less likely to satisfy - either buyers of the software or their customers. Keep your eye on the ball: your customers, and your business.

vantive manuel  companies were Clarify , Vantive , and Scopus . Clarify and Scopus started work in the customer support arena, planning to branch out once they gained a customer base and some momentum, while Vantive, with a much broader initial vision that, in retrospect, may have been ten years ahead of its time, focused on a customer-centric database at the core, ringed by all divisions of the company, each having their own views into the data they needed. Data was entered one time, existed in one place, and was Read More

PeopleSoft - Again A Force To Be Reckoned With?

PeopleSoft is back with a vengeance! During its users conference, Connect, which took place in Los Angeles on October 22-26, it unveiled a slew of new products in its bid to maintain the current turnaround momentum. Earlier, on October 17, PeopleSoft announced impressive financial results for Q3 2000.

vantive manuel  reaping benefits from acquiring Vantive in 1999 and Red Pepper in 1996, and is delivering its CRM and SCM products, respectively. It is somewhat unexpected, though, that its traditional breadwinning HR product line performed better than supposedly more attractive, hot-items CRM and SCM applications. These impressive results coincide with the winding down of PeopleSoft's ambitious and over two years long R&D endeavors. The market should expect much a stronger bottom-line in the future if the company Read More
