Learning Management Suite (LMS)

These are tools for managing, creating, scheduling training or learning in your organization. The terminology varies from vendor to vendor. Learning management systems (LMS) typically help to manage both classroom and on-line learning. They do not normally include content creation or management tools but may in some cases. Some LMSs may manage just classroom or just e-learning rather than both. Some LMSs may also include content authoring and managment and virtual classrooms. Learning content management systems (LCMS) emphasize the management of content for courses/training/learning. In most cases, they include content authoring tools. In some cases, they may also include some of the features of LMSs. Content authoring tools are often provided as part of an LCMS. They may also be stand-alone products. Virtual classrooms (web conferencing tools) normally are separate third party offerings but may be included as part of a suite of tools. Suites of tools include features of at least two or more of the above categories. While some companies offer just LMS or LCMS systems others offer suites of products, which provide all or most of the features of the other tools. Suites combine several capabilities of learning management--usually two or more of the following: learning management, classroom training management, e-learning management, custom content creation, learning content management, learning object repositories, or virtual classrooms.

virtual classroom design  – instead of a virtual classroom session that happens over a day, the community of learners can now continuously interact in a social setting. And one can publish recordings to a group, share, rank, and tag them, making a recording as easy to discover and share as one does a video posting on YouTube . The final part of this series will analyze the underlying product architecture that enables the rich functionality of Saba’s People Cloud. Distributed Virtual Data Center Dynamic Resource Allocation and 24-7 Application Uptime

Today’s business processes place high demands on IT infrastructure, and the answer often is integration of software and hardware resources. Now you can integrate by separating: divide logical processing and storage resources from the physical hardware on which they run, and help make virtualization a powerful tool for improving your data center’s flexibility, reliability, and use—while reducing cost of management.

Case Study: Rhodes College Optimizes Classroom Scheduling

Rhodes College, with about 1,700 students and a large support staff, wanted to optimize use of campus facilities to address a community need for meeting rooms. A single resource calendar was needed to merge curriculum schedules with other meetings and events. Discover how a schedule managing solution helped the college organize meetings from various departments and offices—and reduce overhead with a self-service tool.

ECAD/MCAD Collaboration Solutions: Integrating Mechanical and Electrical Product Design

Electro-mechanical design continues to gain importance, as the majority of today’s products have both electrical and mechanical components and systems. Designing and stimulating these products collaboratively across both domains is essential to producing high quality products. Learn how implementing an electro-computer-aided design (ECAD) and mechanical computer-aided design (MCAD) strategy—now—can help you later.

Today, simulations of products are domain specific. That is, the mechanical discipline simulates assembly motion, heat transfer, structure, etc. Likewise, the electrical discipline simulates printed circuit board interactions such as signal interference, heat dissipation, and other electrical factors. These two sets of simulations are not integrated in today's CAD Read More

Llamasoft Keeps Supply Chain Design Relevant

It used to be (and it might still be the case in many companies) that supply network design and optimization would be run yearly (or maybe every six months) by a few statistics geeks. But the volume and speed of data and information nowadays means that being more alert and adaptable when it comes to one’s supply network and nodes can often differentiate the winners from losers. Smart companies are
