Xactly Compel

In 2004, recognizing the need for automated sales compensation management in the mid-market and the potential of the software as a service (SaaS) delivery model, Centive began development of a new sales compensation system. That system was designed to meet the budget and functional requirements of the mid-market, targeting customers with fewer than 4,000 payees. This new on-demand, multi-tenant solution, Centive Compel, was launched as a beta version in 2004, and was in full production by May 2005. Besides calculations of sales commissions and bonuses, Compel also provides executives, sales managers, and sales representatives with visibility into attainment, ranking, and commission earnings data. Compel features integration with salesforce.com and other customer relationship management (CRM) systems to enable sales representatives and their managers to forecast commission earnings based on opportunities in their pipeline.

There has been a simultaneous surge of activity at the high end with

BigIdeas 2011: Of BigMachines’ Quantum Leap - Part 2

Part 1 of this blog series talked about my very first attendance of BigIdeas, BigMachines’ annual user conference that takes place in the fall in Chicago. I wasn’t the only one that attended BigIdeas 2011 for the first time, as in May 2011 the company’s financial backers brought in David Bonnette, a seasoned Oracle executive in the customer relationship management (CRM) realm, as the new president

Dude, where (and how safe and pristine) is my hosted compensation data?

Sure, anyone observing the enterprise applications market and still naysaying the bright future of the software as a service (SaaS) on-demand deployment model and closely-related Web 2.0 technologies, is in serious denial or similarly delusional. He/she would sound similar to those lost souls that deny even a remote possibility of a global warming and climate changes, but, oops, this is not a

Software as a Service: Not without Caveats

Software-as-a-service solutions often cannot provide that final twenty percent or so that differentiates a company from its competitors. Of major concern is whether off-premise applications can support complex, global organizations on a constant basis and on strict service level agreements.
