Business process modeling is an exercise that facilitates an organization's efforts to detail and document its business processes. It is a means to identify business requirements in the language of the organization, and to translate them into specifications for features and functions, in the language of the vendor.
The resultant hierarchical “blueprint” accurately reflects all of the processes, subprocesses, activities, tasks, and business rules that comprise the organization's business needs. This blueprint serves two primary purposes: - It provides you with a lower total cost of ownership negotiation strategy— ensuring that you negotiate the most for the least.
- It serves as a road map for a reduced implementation timeline requiring fewer resources—thus optimizing implementation success
This blueprint is then translated by cross-referencing the identified business processes to the feature and function criteria that are included in TEC's standard request for proposal (RFP) Templates.
Once all of the requirements have been ascertained, the evaluation and selection methodology is used to identify the best-fit vendor solution.
The following table presents a task breakdown of the three business process modeling methodology phases.
